Harry's favourite Tour - "The Best Offroad/4WD Central Australian Holiday" he says!

Ossies designed this tour to allow discerning travellers to travel by 4WD through Boggy Hole, then appreciate Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock before "escaping"
to the silence and solitude of the Simpson Desert. No other tour company in Central Australia offers such a diverse travelling experience. The 830 km's on bitumen/paved road is unavoidable. The 1550km's off road/4WD offers privileges not seen & enjoyed by other travellers. This unique journey overnights at comfortable, and, some very remote hotels.

Day 1 (L, D)
7.30am departure from Ross River Resort. We immediately begin to experience the ambiance of “Tracks Less Traversed” through cattle stations, riverine & mountain scenery as the only tourists who have access across Ringwood Station to Andado/Binns Track. Southwards to experience mirages and climbing big red sand dunes. Visit rare Acacia Peuce “Waddy Trees” in the driest part of Australia. Along the Old Andado Track to Molly Clarks Pioneer Homestead in the Simpson Desert
We traverse the Southern Hemisphere’s largest private Cattle Station “Andado”. Through the Finke River Floodout and across the NT-SA Border to Mt Dare Hotel, a unique remote Oasis for man & birds in far north South Australia.
Dinner,Bed and Breakfast at Mt Dare offers the opportunity to mingle with locals and Simpson Desert Travellers.
DAY 2 (B.L,D)
Todays unique day trip to the raw dunes along the French Line, leaves Mt Dare Hotel at 8.00am.
We traverse country rarely experienced by Australian & International travellers – Gibber (rock) strewn tracks & countryside; 360 degree distant horizons. Unusual trees. Coolibahs & Red Mulgas, before arriving at the man made desert wetlands Purni Bore, nestled between sand dunes. Another 30km east along the capped Rig Road to the French Line from Wonga Corner.
We drive another 5km’s east along the French Line enabling you to experience vistas, peacefulness & tranquillity only found here in the largest Sand Dune desert in the World.
Lunch on top of a sand dune, as you appreciate what tiny specks we are in the never ending landscape.
Return to the oasis of Mt Dare Hotel late in the afternoon, overawed by the most unusual day tour you will ever experience.
Day 3( B,L,D )
For early risers, walks & birding around Mt Dare Hotel – Red Tailed Cockatoos & Little Corellas are often seen. Todays journey within Witjira Park, highlights the pioneering courage of settlers at Eringa Waterhole – Sidney Kidman’s favourite Homestead, Bloods Creek, Federal & Dalhousie. In 1936 Ted Colson did the first crossing of the Simpson Desert and then returned to Bloods Creek Homestead. Time to swim in Dalhousie Thermal Pool, vast 360degree horizons up to 100km’s away as we cross gibber strewn, treeless country. Return to the enclave of Mt Dare Hotel to swap yarns with fellow travellers.
Dinner , Bed and Breakfast at Mt Dare
Day 4 (B,L,D)
Farewells at Mt Dare, back into the Northern Territory. Our first stop, reminisce about life at Charlotte Waters Telegraph Station ruins. On the bitumen to Uluru ~Kata Tjuta National Park. Out to the Olgas before returning to experience Sunset on Ayers Rock whilst enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine as the desert sky says ‘goodnight’ to the ever photogenic and colour changing ‘Rock’.
